This Privacy Policy covers how Innerworld treats personal information that we collect and receive while providing our Services, including via all related websites, networks, cookies, embeddable widgets, downloadable software, and apps (including mobile apps and VR device apps such as the Meta Quest platform, and tablet apps), and other services provided by us and on which a link to this Policy is displayed . This includes information related to your past use of our Services, and information about you that is personally identifiable, such as your name, address, email address, IP address, phone number and avatar identity.
This Privacy Policy, however, does not apply to the practices of companies that are not affiliated with Innerworld.
What Information Do We Collect?
We generally act as the data controller of your information. We collect the following types of information.
- Information You Provide. When you register for or use our Services, Innerworld collects what is generally called “personally identifiable information," “personal information,” or “personal data.” All these terms refer to information that specifically relates to or identifies a particular individual. Personal information also includes information that when linked to other information identifies a specific individual. When you register to use our Services, we ask for a limited amount of personal information, such as your name, selected username, and email address. When you sign into our Services, you are not anonymous to us. Innerworld also collects information about your transactions with us, including information about your use of our Services.
- “Cookies" Information. When you use our Services, we may send one or more cookies – small text files containing a string of alphanumeric characters – to your device. We may use both session cookies and persistent cookies. A session cookie disappears after you close your browser. A persistent cookie remains after you close your browser and may be used by your browser on subsequent visits to our Services. Consult your device's web browser “Help" file to learn the proper way to modify your cookie settings. Please note that if you delete, or choose not to accept, cookies from our Services, you may not be able to utilize the features of our Services to their fullest potential.
- “Automatically Collected" Information. When you use our Services, you consent to having your sessions in the Environment recorded (”Environment Recordings”). We also may use these technologies to collect information regarding your interaction with email messages, such as whether you opened, clicked on, or forwarded a message. This information is gathered from all users.
- Environment Recordings. We collect and analyze a variety of
information about your activities in the Environment, including
- information about your avatar and how you customize it;
- information about your physical movements,
- Information you report, such as what your “level” is,
- speech data, including (but not limited to) transcripts of speech data; and
- social data, such as who you add to your friends list, what events you attend, who you interact with, and how close you stand to other people in the Environment.
- Location Information. If you use our Services, we may receive your generic location (such as city or neighborhood) or, with your consent, precise geographic location data from your mobile device when the app is running and when it is not running. We may, for example, receive this information when you are in proximity to certain beacons, choose to publish your location, or in your comments or communications with us. We may use and store this information to provide and improve features of our Services, for example, to tailor our Services in order to better facilitate your requests and to provide you more relevant information about callers.
- Information from Other Sources. We may obtain information, including personal information, from third parties and sources other than our Services, such as our research partners or grant sponsors. If we combine or associate information from other sources with personal information that we collect through our Services, we will treat the combined information as personal information in accordance with this Policy.

- We use the information that we collect to operate, maintain, enhance and provide all features of our Services, and to provide services and information that you request, to respond to comments and questions and otherwise to provide support to users.
- We use the information that we collect to understand and analyze the usage trends and preferences of our users, to improve our Services, and to develop new products, services, features, and functionality.
- We may use your email address or other information we collect (i) to contact you for administrative purposes such as customer service, to address intellectual property infringement or other claimed violations of our Terms of Service or (ii) to send communications relating to products and services offered by us that are related to our Services. Generally, you have the ability to opt out of receiving any promotional communications as described below under “Your Choices.”

Sharing Or Disclosing Information
Information about our users and visitors is an important part of our business. We DO NOT sell or trade customer information. We share or disclose customer information only as described below. Except as described in this Policy, we will not disclose your information that we collect on our Services to third parties without your consent. We may disclose information to third parties if you consent to us doing so, as well as in the following circumstances:
- We work with third party service providers that provide website, application development, hosting, maintenance, data transmission, data processing, and other services for us. These third parties may have access to or process your information as part of providing those services for us. However, we limit the personal information provided to these service providers to that which is reasonably necessary for them to perform their functions. In addition, they agree by contract to maintain the confidentiality of such information.
- We may make certain automatically collected, aggregated, or non-personally-identifiable information available to third parties for various purposes, including (i) as part of medical or behavioral research efforts, (ii) to monitor network traffic or activity in order to detect network intrusions and protect you, ourselves or others from malware, fraud, unlawful uses or other illegal activity, or (iii) compliance with various reporting obligations.
- We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in the good-faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with state or federal laws (such as U.S. copyright law), in response to a court order, judicial or other government subpoena or warrant, or to otherwise cooperate with law enforcement or other governmental agencies. In particular, some states require us by law to record and report information regarding the abuse of someone less than 18 years of age, or vulnerable or disabled adults, including persons over 60 years of age, or persons who are in danger of committing suicide. If you convey such circumstances, and provide information that could lead us to identify your name and location, we may have to record such information and provide it to the appropriate authorities.
- We also reserve the right to disclose your information when we believe, in good faith, that disclosure is appropriate or necessary to (i) take precautions against liability, (ii) protect ourselves or others (including other users of our Services) from fraudulent, abusive, or unlawful uses or activity, (iii) investigate and defend ourselves against any third party claims or allegations, (iv) protect the security or integrity of our Services or any facilities or equipment used to make our Services available, or (v) protect our property or legal rights (including, but not limited to, enforcement of our agreements), or the rights, property, or safety of others.
- Information about our users, including personal information, may be disclosed and otherwise transferred to an acquirer of Innerworld, or to a successor or assignee as part of any merger, acquisition, debt financing, sale of assets, or similar transaction, as well as in the event of an insolvency, bankruptcy, or receivership in which information is transferred to one or more third parties as one of our business assets. In the event Innerworld is acquired by or merged with another company, the terms of this Privacy Policy shall continue to apply. In this event, Innerworld will notify you before information about you is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
- Other than as set out above, you will receive notice when information about you might go to third parties, and you will have an opportunity to choose not to share the information. Innerworld also reserves the right to display targeted advertisements based on personal information.
